DASL Implementation and Training

Each fall, AIMS collects school statistics from all its member schools. This information is used to provide benchmarks and comparative analysis for participating schools and provides key regional and national data elements for use in areas such as admissions funnel, enrollment, tuition, salary, and more!

In the 2017-18 school year, AIMS began using the DASL (Data & Analysis for School Leadership) online system, designed and hosted by NAIS. This system allows for data collection to be completed online. Reporting can also be done online at the school, association or national level. Comparative analysis can be completed using data from schools within AIMS and beyond. Schools have the opportunity to design custom reports and will have yearly data to create historical reports in upcoming years.

As we transitioned to this new process, AIMS hosted training in the summer/fall for data entry personnel and, in January, offered multiple in-person and online training sessions for AIMS school staff responsible for creating/generating reports.

These reporting training sessions were conducted by Hilary LaMonte, Senior Vice President for Data and Research at NAIS in conjunction with the AIMS staff. One of the reporting training sessions was recorded for use by AIMS staff.  This training can be found here:

DASL also provides basic reporting guidelines and a user helpline on their website.

Comparative reports for 2017 for all AIMS schools were sent to Heads in mid-December. These reports included the following: school characteristics, admissions funnel, attrition rates, enrollment, ethnicity (students and teacher/staff), tuition costs, teachers’ salaries, administrator/key administrative staff salaries, general financial aid information and endowment.

Additional reports are being generated as needed or at the request of the schools.

Continued training on data entry needs/responsibilities and reporting will be conducted as AIMS moves into year 2 of using the online DASL system.
