School Application Materials (ACCREDITED School Membership only)

 

 

 

 

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Association of Independent Maryland & DC Schools (AIMS).

For those applying as new ACCREDITED SCHOOL Members, you will see that AIMS is an exceptionally vibrant association of independent schools that may be counted among the very best in the nation.

Once you have completed the online school application, send all required materials (see list) to AIMS - one hard copy and one digital copy of all application materials. A visit to the school (in-person or virtual) will be scheduled. Following the visit, the AIMS Board will make a membership decision at its next regularly-scheduled meeting.

Faculty and staff of AIMS Member Schools are invited to create individual accounts. (see AIMS School staff membership information below). 
          
Other school and organization memberships:

Associate Membership is available to schools in states or jurisdictions other than Maryland and the District of Columbia which meet all other appropriate criteria for accredited membership.

Affiliate Membership is a category of membership that is available to other nonprofit organizations. Each Affiliate Member must have education as a significant element of its mission and may not discriminate or carry on any activities which are unlawful, or which may subject the organization to the disapprobation of the public.

*Non-Member Career Center Organization is a category for any organization that wishes to post career positions to the AIMS website. This membership can be created by completing the online account form.

Individual memberships

*AIMS School Staff membership accounts can be created by all faculty and staff at AIMS Accredited Member Schools. The membership provides access to members-only information, receipt of AIMS communications to segmented groups within the schools and the ability to register for AIMS events.

*Non-AIMS Colleague membership accounts can be created by completing the online account form. These accounts would be for anyone outside the Accredited Member Schools. Having a Non-AIMS Colleague account provides general mailings from AIMS and access to select AIMS events where non-AIMS access is provided (see events under Professional Development).

Individual Membership is a special category designed for individual representatives of special education schools, or of school systems not eligible for AIMS membership, or of other professional organizations.   Membership is achieved by writing a letter of request with an explanation of reasons for desiring membership to the Executive Director and approved upon vote of the Board of Trustees.
