Are diversity, equity, and justice an integral part of your school's mission statement and philosophy? Are they meaningful and visible in your curricula and classroom environments? In this workshop, the Green Acres Diversity Director, Staff, and Board Diversity Committees will describe the development of the school's Diversity Curriculum and will discuss the many ways in which the "Big 9" Social Identifiers provide a framework for our focus on diversity, equity, and justice. These initiatives include the schoolwide Diversity Poster project, staff, and parent SEED groups, purchase and cataloging of library materials, bias and stereotype activities in Lower School classrooms and in the Middle School Advisory programs, book choices for Middle School book clubs, and selection of visiting performers, authors, and illustrators.

There will be an opportunity for interactive discussions and sharing of your current diversity work, to gather insight, knowledge, and suggestions from the group on how to proceed at your school. Bring your school's mission, philosophy statement, and diversity statement, if your school has one, and also one initiative idea you are working towards. Applicable Grades: K-12. Lunch is included.
