At Calvert School and St Vincent Pallotti High School, students are participating in Digital Arts classes at various grade levels. Using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, students are introduced to common terminology and principles involving digital photography, graphic design, video editing, stop animation, and photo editing. Looking at their work with a critical eye and defending their choices during peer review is integral to these courses. Come hear about how students are being inspired to pursue their passion and interest in digital arts! You will walk away with many project ideas to use with your students, whether it is to begin a fine arts program at your school or club, or to add digital media into your subject area classes.

Presenter(s): Shannon Cheston; Jonathan Jacobs
Shannon Cheston has been with the Technology department at Calvert School for 14 years. She also teaches middle school English and History classes. She began the technology fine arts program at Calvert School with another colleague six years ago. She enjoys helping students think creatively and defend their design choices.

Jonathan Jacobs has been a high school teacher and techie at St. Vincent Pallotti High School for 15 years. He has taught graphic and web design, stained glass art, and other studio art courses. With Digital Arts being recently introduced in to the school curriculum by a colleague, Jonathan has begun to teach this as well - recognizing stop-animation as their students’ absolute favorite project. While still learning himself, Jonathan will have some ideas
and experiences to share, which you may be able to utilize in your classroom.
