Understanding the diverse educational needs of boys in our schools is an essential responsibility for independent school teachers. In this workshop, educators will explore literature, lesson plans, and effective teaching strategies for teaching boys in single-sex or coeducational settings, while dispelling some of the myths surrounding the education of boys.

Presenter(s): Kait Gentry; Neal McMahon, Calvert School
Kait Gentry joined Calvert School five years ago. She is one of the 3rd grade boys' homeroom teachers. Neal McMahon is in his third year at Calvert, and is a 4th grade boys' homeroom teacher. Prior to joining the Calvert faculty, he taught second grade for five years at the St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia. Both Kait and Neal are passionate about exploring new instructional strategies and using research to guide effective instruction.
