Setting Struggling Students Up for Success:  Empowering the 1 in 5 Who Learn Differently


Whether a student is diagnosed with a learning difference or not, one out of five people learn differently. Learn about the umbrella of cognitive learning differences, like dyslexia and ADD/ADHD. Gain strategies and practice lesson ideas that set struggling students up for success with stronger metacogntive skills, confidence and academics.


AIMS Members: $25 (through February 6th) or $35 (After February 6th)
NON AIMS Members: $100 (through February 6th) or $110 (After February 6th)

Katrin (Kate) McElderry, M.A. works as a tutor teaching language skills for students with dyslexia at The Odyssey School in Maryland. Kate has an Instructional Systems Design/ Curriculum Development from University of Maryland Baltimore County, where she served as a graduate assistant in the education department. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the International Dyslexia Association, MD  and is a member of The Odyssey School Outreach Committee. Kate is a returned Peace Corps Volunteer who worked with teachers designing curriculum and educational programs in South America. She has given talks and conducted workshops in different parts of the US, UK and Ireland. Collaborating with other educators on the topics of learning differences, intellectual risk-taking, and creativity, is one of Kate’s passions. Outside of work, Kate enjoys dance, biking, hiking, and spending time with her family.
