For once you don’t have to organize anything, just show up in comfortable clothes, be ready to learn, take care of yourself, and network. At this learning retreat we will address managing work and relationships, answer the questions important to you, share techniques to care for yourself during your busy workday, and provide networking time with your colleagues at other schools. Participants will leave with specific strategies to be implemented immediately, techniques for self-care, and a new network/friends.

9:00     Keynote Address:  Ever Feel Like A Concierge? Tips from a Pro! (Lynn Jason)

10:15   Discussion/Action Plans based on presentation/questions

11:00   First Line Security:  Best Practices for Administrative Staff (Jeremy Wojdan)

            With an ever growing concern about school safety, we will explore a balanced approach to school safety using

            simple strategies rather than extreme solutions to keep students safe. 

12:00   Lunch and networking

12:45   Affinity Group Topics (Newbies, New Heads, Social Media Challenges, Technology)

2:00     Closing Remarks & Activity

Presenters Info:

 

Lynn Jason                  

Chef Concierge, Mandarin Oriental Washington, DC

 

Currently Chef Concierge at the Mandarin Oriental since 2012, Lynn traces the start of her career to the coursework she completed with Professor Howard Reichbart at Northern Virginia Community College. Lynn began her concierge career at the Hyatt Crystal City in 1999 and also worked as concierge at several other area hotels. During her tenure at the Ritz-Carlton DC, Lynn was chosen as one of ten subjects in the book, Cool Careers for Girls in Hospitality and Travel.

 

Lynn has been an active member of the Washington Area Concierge Association since her early days working alongside Ginny Thomason and John Campbell and she is also a proud member of Les Clefs d’Or USA. For the past four plus years, Lynn has served tirelessly on the WACA Board, first as Operations Chair, Membership Chair and currently as Operations Advisor. Lynn is a true connector of people and experiences and enjoys the great fun of baseball, Texas Hold ‘Em Poker and the deliciousness of beer and sushi! Her excellent concierge skills and resourcefulness have been sharpened by her depth of experience as a proud mother of four young adults.


   

 

JeremWojdan is a 16-year veteran of the Montgomery County Police Department.  Jeremy has received numerous commendations and awards highlighting his exceptional performance for investigating and solving thousands of crimes. Jeremy served as a School Resource Officer (SRO) for ten years where he facilitated a strong partnership between the Montgomery County Police Department and Montgomery County Public Schools.
