When we teach about the history of the Americas, from what direction is our perspective? Looking west, from the traditional European view? Or looking east, from the perspective of the many native groups living throughout these lands? The National Museum of the American Indian has created a new online portal for introducing first-hand accounts and alternative perspectives into your teaching curricula around Native American history and culture. In this 2-hour offering, you will be shown how to make the best use of this portal and will be given ideas for implementing lessons in your classroom. This workshop is designed to be a hands-on, guided introduction with time to explore, as well as discuss best practices around teaching in this topic. The NK 360 site also offers links to additional content beyond NMAI and the instructor will have some materials to share from her participation in a summer teacher experience.

AIMS Members: $15 (through November 26th) or $25 (After November 26th)
