A Re-Examination of the Traditional Enrollment Funnel

During this presentation participants will discuss how admissions/enrollment management has changed in the last several years and how independent schools are and should be adjusting to these changes.

Geordie Mitchell is the Director of Enrollment Management at Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, MA. A founding Board member for AISAP, Geordie has been a frequent presenter at conferences and workshops around the country on various aspects of enrollment management. He was on the planning committees for both the 2014 NAIS National Conference and the 2014 NAIS SSS Leadership Conference. Geordie also recently participated in a two-day discussion at NAIS headquarters on the future of independent school education and the data needed for schools to make strategic, data-driven decisions.

Born and raised on the campus of St. Paul’s School in Baltimore, where both of his parents were teachers and coaches, Geordie's independent school career has encompassed grades PK-12, day and boarding, and spiritual and secular schools. He began his career at Trinity-Pawling School, an all-boys boarding school in New York where he taught, coached, advised, and served as both the Assistant Director of the Capital Campaign and the Director of Admission. Called back to his roots, Geordie returned to St. Paul’s for 14 years. During that time, he spent time as the Director of Development and the Director of Admissions. He was the Assistant Head for External Relations at Wilmington Friends School where he oversaw the admissions, development, and communications departments before returning to admissions in his current role.
