Anyone who interacts with students has the opportunity to teach leadership skills. Join this program to learn techniques and best practices for teaching leadership at all levels and in a variety of settings. The program will include interactive sessions in which leadership practitioners and student leaders will provide real-world examples. We welcome teachers, administrators, and staff who work with children K-12.
Kate Wade is the Founder of the RISE Program, an inspiring approach to Service Education at The Rivers School outside of Boston, MA, where she also serves as an English Teacher and the 10th Grade Dean. RISE injects the challenges and possibilities of leadership into community service. A 2012 graduate of the gcLi Leadership Lab, Kate is also the first awardee of the Fellowship in Pedagogy of Leadership at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania, a past gcLi Scholar, and a Presenter at the Inaugural Symposium in Pedagogy of Leadership at Columbia University.
Samantha Brennan is the Dean of Students in the Upper School at The Rivers School, where she oversees the Leadership program, discipline system, orientation program, and the Student Advisor Program. Samantha is also the 9th Grade Dean and course counselor. Additionally, she teaches Anatomy and Physiology. During her tenure at Rivers, she has coached girls’ basketball and lacrosse and taught biology and Middle School media literacy. Before Rivers, Samantha taught science and was the athletic trainer at Delbarton School in New Jersey. She graduated with a B.S. in biology from Georgetown University and a M.Ed. from Harvard University.
