How do your collaborations with grade/subject teachers in LS and MS raise awareness of diversity and inclusion issues? At Green Acres, librarian-led bias/stereotype activities are part of the 3rd grade Native American unit, the 5th grade science unit on water resources, the 6th grade science unit on neurological conditions, 7th grade social studies, etc. Collaboration with the 3rd graders led to a student-run presentation at this year's school Thanksgiving Lunch. The 3rd graders and 6th graders are guiding a school-wide student conversation about our policy regarding the “R-word.” Join a discussion about collaborative activities and about the ways in which they can shape school curriculum, programs, and policy regarding diversity and inclusion. Lunch is included. Applicable Grades: K-8.
